Youngsoo Kim, Director of Administration and Operations at the National Museum of Korea, was appointed as the 1st Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism on August 13.
Kim, the newly appointed vice minister, was born in Seoul in 1967. He graduated from Baemoon High School and majored in aesthetics at Seoul National University. He later earned a master's degree in public administration from Syracuse University in the United States and entered public service after passing the 38th Civil Service Examination.
Within the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, he has accumulated policy experience across all areas of culture, sports, and tourism, serving as Director-General for Planning and Coordination, Director-General for Content Policy, Director for Sports Cooperation, Director for Policy Planning, and Director for Arts Policy.
Kang Yoo-jung, spokesperson for the Presidential Office, stated, "We expect him to be an expert who will help our country become one of the global top five in content, based on his extensive understanding of policy."
