Asiana Airlines reported both an operating profit and a net profit in its second quarter results this year.
On August 13, Asiana Airlines announced that its second quarter revenue reached 1.6756 trillion won, with an operating profit of 34 billion won.
The net profit for the period was 233.2 billion won. In the second quarter of last year, the company had posted an operating loss of 31.2 billion won and a net loss of 149.2 billion won, but returned to profitability in both categories after one year.
Cumulative revenue for the first half of this year was 3.4186 trillion won, up 1.5% (50.1 billion won) compared to the same period last year. Operating profit was 26.1 billion won, and net profit was 344 billion won.
The passenger segment generated 1.1176 trillion won in revenue. Factors such as increased travel demand during the May-June holiday season, additional flights on North American routes (New York and Hawaii), the launch of a new route to Prague in Europe, and the resumption of visa-free entry to China all contributed positively.
In contrast, the cargo segment recorded 371.2 billion won, a 13.6% decrease year-on-year, as demand declined due to tariffs imposed by the U.S. government.
