Gijang-gun in Busan (Governor Jung Jongbok) announced on August 13 that it began recruiting new students for the fall semester at the Gijang Hub English Center starting from August 11.
The Gijang Hub English Center is the county's flagship English education program, offering practical English conversation classes taught 100% by native-speaking instructors, five days a week. The monthly tuition fee is 40,000 KRW for elementary and middle school students and 45,000 KRW for adults, making it affordable and well-received by parents and residents.
The fall semester will run from September 1 to November 28 at five locations: Gijang Education Happiness Town, Gijang General Social Welfare Center, Jeongganeup Education Happiness Center, Wollae Welfare Center, and Ilgwang Hub English Center. Sixteen native-speaking instructors will be assigned. Eligible applicants include students from second grade in elementary school to third grade in middle school, as well as adults, based on the 2025 academic year. New students must take a placement test before enrolling, and applications will be accepted until August 21.
Governor Jung Jongbok stated, "I hope the Gijang Hub English Center will serve as an open learning space where residents can learn English easily and enjoyably, and as a bridgehead for fostering global talent."
