Under the Theme "Soil Lives, the Earth Survives"
A Platform for Carbon Neutrality and Sustainable Ecosystems
Gurye County in South Jeolla Province announced on August 13 that it will host the '2025 Gurye Carbon Neutral Soil Revitalization Expo' for three days from September 19 to 21 at the Jirisan History and Culture Center and its surrounding area.
This event, now in its second year following last year's inaugural edition, is being held under the theme "Soil Lives, the Earth Survives." The expo aims to address the climate crisis and provide a platform for sharing ideas on building a sustainable ecosystem.
The expo will kick off on September 19 with an opening ceremony, including a celebratory Nanta performance. The event will feature a Theme Hall (Theme: Soil, the Source of Life; Gurye Embracing Nature), a Business Hall (Eco-friendly agriculture companies, Startup IR Competition), a Sales and Promotion Hall (Local agricultural products marketplace, local government promotion and exhibition booths), a Medicinal Chef's Garden, and a Global Citizen Talk Show (featuring Carlos and others).
County Governor Kim Soonho stated, "This year, many farms suffered damage due to unprecedented heat and heavy rainfall." He added, "I hope that carbon neutral soil revitalization will become a new solution for overcoming the climate crisis." He continued, "Through this expo, I hope to widely promote the value of soil and encourage the practice of carbon neutrality in agriculture and daily life."
Meanwhile, in order to ensure the success of the expo, the county, with Deputy Governor Oh Sumi in attendance, carried out promotional activities and a Gurye agricultural specialty sales event for about 1,000 citizens in Gwangju.
