On the morning of the same day, Mayor Kim Byungsu personally inspected areas at risk of flooding in Daegot and Haseong, then moved to the Disaster Safety Situation Room to preside over an emergency meeting. There, together with the deputy mayor, department heads, and other key officials, he activated a real-time response system to prevent damage.
During the emergency response meeting, Mayor Kim ordered all departments to implement emergency work protocols and called for the immediate deployment of field personnel to towns, townships, and neighborhoods.
Mayor Kim emphasized, "The safety of our citizens is the top priority. Mobilize all available resources to ensure that this heavy rain does not result in any casualties." He also instructed, "In particular, quickly send disaster alert messages and broadcast citizen guidance so that people can evacuate safely in case of an emergency."
Currently, Gimpo City is strengthening real-time monitoring of river water levels, drainage pump operations, landslide-prone areas, underpasses, and low-lying residential zones. The city is also maintaining close cooperation with related agencies, including the fire department, police, and military units.
Gimpo City plans to continue monitoring weather conditions and on-site damage, and will hold additional countermeasure meetings as needed to take proactive action.
Meanwhile, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the Gimpo area is highly likely to experience strong rain exceeding 70mm per hour and gusty winds on this day, raising significant concerns about river flooding, soil runoff, and flooding in low-lying areas.
