Rest Shelters Provide Relief and Prevent Heat-Related Illnesses

The Busan Regional Employment and Labor Office of the Ministry of Employment and Labor (headed by Kim Junhui), the Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (headed by Jung Jongdeuk), and the Busan Labor Rights Center (headed by Seok Byungsoo) held the 'Delivery Workers Taking Breaks for Heatwave Safety' campaign at the bottled water rest shelter in Yeonje-gu, Busan, on August 12.

The bottled water rest shelters serve as heatwave shelters in areas with high concentrations of delivery workers, such as Yangjeong, Seomyeon, Dongnae, Haeundae, and Sasang, providing cool water and a place to rest.

During the campaign, the five basic heatwave safety rules were introduced: water, wind and shade, rest, insulated containers, and emergency measures. Preventive items for heat-related illnesses, such as bottled water and wet tissues, were distributed.

On this day, the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency distributed a total of 10,000 bottles of water to delivery workers visiting the shelter. An official stated, "We hope that delivery workers will regularly take breaks at the shelters and drink water to prevent occupational accidents caused by heatwaves."
