Citizens' Donations for Soha-dong Apartment Fire Recovery Surpass 100 Million Won
Individual Contributions Account for 80% of Total; Fundraising Continues Until August 31

Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on August 13 that citizens' donations for the recovery from last month's apartment fire in Soha-dong have surpassed 100 million won.

The city explained that, as of August 12, the fundraising campaign conducted by the Gwangmyeong City Social Welfare Council since July 21 had collected a total of 100,521,000 won in donations from citizens.


During this period, a total of 320 donations were received, with individual contributions accounting for 255 cases, or about 80% of the total. Donations from companies and organizations amounted to approximately 92.57 million won, representing about 88% of the total funds raised.


The council plans to continue the fundraising campaign until August 31 and, in cooperation with the Citizens' Countermeasure Committee for Supporting Victims of the Soha-dong Apartment Fire, will establish guidelines for distributing the donations to support the victims' recovery and stabilization of their daily lives.


Park Seungwon, Mayor of Gwangmyeong, stated, "I deeply appreciate the warmth and solidarity shown by our citizens," and added, "We will do our utmost to ensure that all donations are used entirely to support the victims' recovery and stabilization of their daily lives."
