This webinar follows the "1st Webinar" held on June 26 and marks the second event in the series. The previous session covered topics such as the current status and outlook of Japan's generic drug industry and global pharmaceutical companies' patent strategies, receiving a highly positive response from participants.

The second webinar is targeted at member companies of the association that have entered or are planning to enter the Japanese market, as well as government officials and representatives from related organizations. The program will feature a lecture by Yasuko Tanaka, CEO of S-Cube Inc., on "The Latest Developments in Japan's Pharmaceutical Patent Strategies: Focusing on the Original vs. Generic Battle."

CEO Yasuko Tanaka has handled intellectual property affairs at global companies such as Pfizer and 3M. In 2014, she established S-Cube Inc., an intellectual property consulting firm, and a patent law office. She currently serves as an expert committee member specializing in intellectual property litigation.

Kang Myungil, Economic Counselor at the Embassy of Japan in Korea, stated, "This webinar is designed to provide practical support for Korean companies in establishing intellectual property strategies as they enter the Japanese market. I hope it will serve as an opportunity to share useful and realistic information, and further promote cooperation between Korea and Japan in the pharmaceutical and bio-pharma sectors."

Applications to participate in the event can be submitted online until August 25. Further details are available in the notice section of the association's website.

Meanwhile, since its launch in September last year, the association's Intellectual Property Expert Committee has been sharing updates on changes in intellectual property-related policies, systems, and court precedents among member companies. The committee also serves as a communication channel with relevant government agencies, including the Korean Intellectual Property Office and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. The committee holds regular annual seminars for patent practitioners and, this year, is jointly hosting two webinars with the Embassy of Japan in Korea.
