Gwangju City is launching a special program called 'Art Picnic,' where families can enjoy performances and water activities together in the city center during the hot summer months.

On August 13, Gwangju City announced that it will hold the urban cultural arts picnic 'G-Summer Picnic,' a family-oriented cultural and arts experience program, at the City Hall outdoor plaza on August 16.

'G-Summer Picnic,' the summer edition of the Art Picnic series held 12 times throughout the year, features a variety of programs, including performances (Cotton Candy Show, Balloon Bubble Show), entertainment, water activities (water slides, large pool, shaded swimming pool), and hands-on programs (decorating summer sun hats, bamboo water gun decorating, beach ball decorating, and eight other activities). All programs are free of charge, and the event will run from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

To ensure safety, the city will assign safety personnel to each zone and station medical staff and an ambulance on site at all times to respond to emergencies. In addition, shelters and ice water will be provided in preparation for heat waves. The water play area will operate on a schedule of 50 minutes of activity followed by a 10-minute break.

In the second half of the year, 'Art Picnic' will be held at the Gwangju History and Folklore Museum on September 13, 20, and 27, and October 4 and 25, and at the City Hall outdoor plaza on September 6 and October 11. Detailed schedules can be found on the '2025 Art Picnic Blog' or by contacting the event office.

Jeon Eunok, Director of Culture and Sports, said, "We hope that citizens can enjoy a cool summer in the city, experience culture and the arts, and create special memories. We will do our utmost to ensure that families can enjoy the event safely together."
