Major Discount Stores Launch Four-Day Liberation Day Promotions: "990 Won Pork Belly, Up to 50% Off"

Major discount stores announced on August 13 that they will be holding special promotional events for four days, from August 14 to 17, in celebration of the Liberation Day holiday.

A model is introducing key products of the "CRAZY 4-Day Special" at the Homeplus Mega Food Market Live Gangseo Branch. Provided by Homeplus.

First, Homeplus will host the "CRAZY 4-Day Special" during this period. To mark the launch of its new U.S.-origin "Corn-Fed Pork Belly and Pork Neck (100g, limited to 1kg per person)," the items will be offered at the remarkable price of 990 won. "Corn-Fed Pork" is a premium pork raised primarily on corn from the Corn Belt region of the U.S. Midwest, known for its savory and chewy texture, abundant juiciness, and consistent marbling.

Additionally, "Famous Region Peaches (4-7 pieces, product selection varies by store)" will be sold for 9,990 won when purchased with one of seven major credit cards. "14 Brix Famous Region Campbell Grapes (1kg, product selection varies by store)" and "15 Brix Famous Region Geobong Grapes (2-3 bunches, product selection varies by store)" will be available for 10,990 won and 14,990 won, respectively. "Large Eggs, 30-count (limited to 1 tray per person)" will be sold for 6,890 won, a 1,000 won discount.

Furthermore, "Bagged Ramen Multipacks, over 90 varieties (mix-and-match allowed)" will be offered at 9,900 won for three packs, and "Pies, Biscuits, and Gum, over 130 varieties (mix-and-match allowed)" will be available at 9,990 won for three packs. Domestic "Antibiotic-Free Family Dakbokkeumtang (1.2kg)" will be sold to My Homeplus Membership members for 6,590 won. The newly launched "Simplus Soy Milk (950ml)" reflects the health and value-for-money trend. This joins the 1,000 won fixed-price beverage series following Simplus Coffee and Simplus Tea, featuring a generous soybean content at an affordable price.

Homeplus will also run the "AI Price Stabilization Project" until August 20. With My Homeplus member special prices, "U.S. Prime Chuck Eye Roll (100g)" and "U.S. Choice Flat Iron Steak (100g)" are discounted by 40% and sold at 2,340 won and 2,400 won, respectively. "Korean Pork Premium Pork Shoulder, Ham, and Ribs (100g)" are offered at a 50% discount. When using one of seven major credit cards, "Eumseong Haetsare Daolchan Watermelon, 4 varieties" are discounted by 5,000 won each, "Cherry Tomatoes (900g)" are discounted by 2,000 won to 7,990 won, and "over 40 meal kits" are offered at a 30% discount.

Kim Sangjin, Head of Trade Marketing at Homeplus, stated, "To help customers make the most of the end of summer, we have prepared a variety of discount events, starting with Homeplus-exclusive, high-quality, value-for-money new products like 'Corn-Fed Pork' and 'Simplus Soy Milk.'" Lotte Mart will hold "Tongkeun Day" for the holiday. Tongkeun Day is a limited-time promotion that offers up to 50% off on popular family foods, carefully selected for the high demand during family gatherings over the holiday period.

Lotte Mart will introduce large-sized fruits befitting the name of Tongkeun Day. The "Giant Melon (whole, domestic)" weighs over 2.2kg, about 38% larger than a regular melon, and will be sold for 9,900 won. Seasonal "Geobong Grapes (1.4kg, domestic)" will be available for 15,990 won. "Zespri Super Jumbo Gold Kiwi (each, New Zealand origin)" will be offered at 9,900 won for six pieces.

Seasonal produce is also available at reasonable prices. "Famous Region Peaches (4-8 pieces, domestic)," including those from Imsil and Haetsare, will be sold for 14,990 won. On Thursday and Friday, "Non-Destructive Sugar-Selected House Shine Muscat Grapes (bunch, domestic)" will be available for 5,990 won, and "Highland Bananas (Philippines origin)" for 2,990 won. "Sangsaeng Radish (domestic)" harvested in Gochang, Jeonbuk will be sold for 1,490 won, "Zucchini (domestic)" for 990 won, and the pure domestic variety "Jinyulmi Fresh Sweet Potato (1.5kg, domestic)" for 6,990 won.

Popular meats are offered at discounts of up to 50%. "Trimmed Pork Belly and Pork Neck (each 100g, chilled, imported)" will be sold at half price, 1,290 won, limited to two packs per person for L.Point members. "All Korean Hanwoo Beef, Grade 1++ (7,8), each 100g, chilled, domestic" and "Mountain of Green Onion Beef Bulgogi (800g, chilled)" will be discounted by 40%. "Domestic Pork Shoulder and Ham (each 100g, chilled)" will be available for 1,690 won and 990 won, respectively. The 100% Angus breed U.S. premium beef "Chairman's Reserve Angus Chuck Eye Roll (100g, chilled, U.S. origin)" will be sold for 2,490 won.

There are also one-day special offers with exceptional benefits. On August 15, Liberation Day itself, customers who pay with a promotional card can purchase "Haengbok Saengsaeng Eggs (large eggs, 30-count, domestic)" for 5,990 won, limited to two trays per person. On August 16, all bagged ramen products, regardless of brand, will be available as a 2+1 promotion.
