If You're New to the Festival, Try the "Beginner Course"
For Those Seeking More Experiences, the "Conqueror Course" Awaits
The 'Daejeon Zero Hour Festival,' which surpassed 1 million visitors just four days after opening, covers a vast area stretching about 1 kilometer from Daejeon Station to the former Chungnam Provincial Government Office. The entire original downtown, including the festival route as well as the neighborhoods of Eunhaeng-dong, Daeheung-dong, and Seonhwa-dong, serves as the festival site, making strategic route planning essential due to its sheer scale.
To help visitors enjoy the festival effectively, both a 'Beginner Course' and a 'Conqueror Course' are recommended.
If this is your first time at the Zero Hour Festival, the 'Beginner Course' is suggested for a curated sightseeing experience.
The Beginner Course starts at the Past Zone's large Flower Kkumdori and Kkumsooni Welcome Zone. This year, the Past Zone perfectly embodies the theme of a 'Retro Train Journey of Memories.'
At the first-ever Daejeon Station photo zone and the retro train village, you can enjoy Ttakji-chigi (from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.), a dance festival (from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.), and busking performances (from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.), each at their scheduled times. Children can also experience the retro train and carousel.
Afterward, head to Korea’s first Kkumdori Ice Hotel to cool off and enjoy media art. Next, try the Space Travel 4D attraction, then move to the Daejeon Future Science Experience Center, where you can visit the exhibition hall for six strategic industries, the VR Drone Ball Party, and the VR shooting experience.
Continue to the Kkumssi Family Zone to enjoy character photo zones and sports recreation, then stop by the character goods shop and supermarket to taste walnut cookies. Finally, proceed to the former Chungnam Provincial Government Office Family Theme Park to enjoy Gamphillago Sand Park, Character Land, and Kkumssi Science Lab to complete the course.
The Conqueror Course is the optimal choice for visitors who have more time to explore compared to the Beginner Course.
The route is the same as the Beginner Course up to the Welcome Zone, Retro Train Village, and Kkumdori Ice Hotel. After that, you can explore the hidden 'Daejeon Viewing Festival' at Jungang-ro, the underground shopping arcade, and original downtown performance venues. This year’s Zero Hour Festival features a wealth of cultural performances, exhibitions, and theatrical events as its hidden highlights. You can select intriguing performances yourself via the festival website or by scanning the program book QR code.
Then, as you leisurely browse the Small Business Open Market, Eunhaeng-dong Flea Market, and the Social Economy Market, you will eventually arrive at the Daejeon Future Science Experience Center.
Afterward, visit the Kkumssi Family Zone and Family Theme Park, refuel at one of the six food zones set up throughout the festival, and enjoy the Chukcance Concert held on the Jungang-ro stage.
City Hall staff said, "This year, there are more Kkumdori sculptures than ever before. We also recommend a unique course where you follow the different Kkumdoris installed throughout the festival grounds."
Other staff members commented, "The original downtown is all about the food," and recommended exploring the food zones, which offer both improved taste and quantity compared to last year."
