9 Billion KRW in Support for 350 Workplaces to Prevent Heat-Related Illnesses
Inspection of Compliance with the Five Key Rules:
"Water, Shade, and Rest"
On August 12, the Yangsan Branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor (headed by Kwon Guhyung) and the Eastern Gyeongnam Branch of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (headed by Shim Yeonseop) visited a manufacturing workplace in Gimhae to assess the on-site effectiveness of the "Healthy Workplace Support (Heat Illness Prevention Equipment)" initiative.
Through this program, approximately 350 workplaces in the Yangsan Branch region received a total of about 900 million KRW in subsidies, while 35 billion KRW was allocated nationwide. The support funds were used to distribute equipment such as portable air conditioners and cooling storage devices to protect the health of workers operating in hot environments.
During the inspection, Branch Director Kwon and Branch Head Shim checked the operational status of the installed portable air conditioners and spoke directly with on-site workers to hear about the improvements in their working conditions. They also examined compliance with the five key rules for preventing heat-related illnesses: adequate water intake, ensuring airflow and shade, appropriate rest periods, wearing cooling storage gear, and emergency response measures.
Kwon Guhyung stated, "The distribution of cooling devices through financial support projects is a key measure to lower perceived temperatures in the workplace and reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses," and added, "Please do your utmost to ensure a safe summer workplace by guaranteeing proper rest periods and adhering to prevention guidelines."
