[Exclusive] 376 Sex Offenders with Medium-Term Sentences Reside in the Chungcheong Region

Sex Offenders Reside in All Districts of South Chungcheong, North Chungcheong, and Daejeon

As punishments for sex offenders continue to become more severe, an Asia Economy investigation confirmed on August 12 that there are 376 registered sex offenders residing in the Chungcheong region, which includes Daejeon, Sejong, South Chungcheong, and North Chungcheong. By region, South Chungcheong has the highest number, followed by North Chungcheong, Daejeon, and Sejong.

In South Chungcheong Province, the identities and residential addresses of 182 sex offenders have been made public. In North Chungcheong, 115 offenders have been disclosed, while 71 have been revealed in Daejeon. Sejong, which has the smallest population in the Chungcheong region, has 8 offenders subject to disclosure.

By municipality in South Chungcheong, Cheonan has the highest number with 64 offenders, followed by Asan with 27, Dangjin with 17, Hongseong with 15, Seosan with 10, Gongju with 9, Yesan with 8, Nonsan with 7, Buyeo with 7, Taean with 7, Boryeong with 4, Seocheon with 3, Gyeryong with 2, Geumsan with 1, and Cheongyang with 1.

In North Chungcheong, Cheongju has the highest number with 52 offenders, followed by Chungju with 15, Eumseong with 11, Jecheon with 8, Danyang with 8, Yeongdong with 6, Jincheon with 6, Jeungpyeong with 3, Okcheon with 3, Boeun with 2, and Goesan with 1. In Daejeon, Jung District has 18 offenders, Dong District 16, Yuseong District 15, Seo District 14, and Daedeok District 8. It has been confirmed that sex offenders who have received medium-term sentences are residing in every municipality of South Chungcheong, North Chungcheong, and Daejeon.

Sejong, which is a metropolitan city without subdivisions, has 8 offenders. Of these, one each resides in Gowon-dong and Dodam-dong, which are part of the Multifunctional Administrative City; two live in Jochiwon-eup, the central city in the northern area; two in Janggun-myeon; one in Yeonseo-myeon; and one in Jeonui-myeon.
