NVIDIA "B200" to Be Deployed... Over 4,000 Units Configured as a Single Cluster
NHN announced on August 12 that it has been selected as the largest contractor in the "Advanced Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) Procurement, Construction, and Operation Support Project" led by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency. The company expects to generate approximately 300 billion KRW in revenue over the course of the project. NHN aims to achieve a performance rebound through the expansion of its GPU infrastructure and the release of new titles in the second half of the year.
In the second quarter of this year, NHN recorded consolidated revenue of 604.9 billion KRW and operating profit of 21.9 billion KRW. While revenue increased by 0.9% compared to the same period last year, operating profit decreased by 23.0%.
During a conference call, NHN CEO Jung Woojin explained, "By the first quarter of next year, we will deploy 7,000 units of NVIDIA's latest GPU, the B200, and more than 4,000 of these will be configured as a single cluster."
In addition, NHN has secured participation as a cloud service provider for public projects such as the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education project and the Ministry of Health and Welfare project in the second half of the year. The company expects to generate an additional 12 billion KRW or more in revenue through these projects.
In the gaming segment, the Japanese title "Compass" saw a 12.9% year-on-year increase in revenue thanks to its 11th anniversary event and a collaboration with a popular manga. "Hangame Poker Classic" achieved a 16% increase in revenue due to the introduction of new content called "Challenge Battle." For the second half of the year, NHN plans to release the subculture RPG "Abyssdia" in Japan, launch "Darkest Days" within the year, and release a puzzle game based on the "Oshi no Ko" IP in the first half of next year.
