Naver Promotes Restaurants Nationwide Through Clips
Kakao Offers Digital Transformation Training for Business Owners
Naver and Kakao, two of South Korea's leading online platforms, are each launching initiatives to support self-employed individuals and small business owners in their own ways.
On August 12, Naver announced that it is collaborating with the Win-Win Growth Committee and Lotte Wellfood to discover small restaurants across the country and develop their signature dishes into convenience store products, thereby expanding both online and offline sales channels.
This project was inspired by the "Filial Daughter Restaurant Map," which originated from Generation Z's social media activities promoting their parents' businesses. The initiative will run until September 7. In this regional mutual growth project, clip creators from all over the country act as "Filial Daughter Shimcheong," sharing information about popular restaurants through clips on behalf of small business owners and helping to boost their sales.
Creators simply need to produce and upload clips containing restaurant information along with location stickers. After the Clip Awards and a taste evaluation, the final selected dishes will be launched nationwide as new products at Seven-Eleven convenience stores through Lotte Wellfood.
A "Filial Daughter Shimcheong Map," featuring information on 200 outstanding restaurants across the country, will also be created and distributed via Clip Blog and Places.
Kakao, in partnership with 12 Creative Economy Innovation Centers nationwide, is launching the "2025 Kakao Class" to support the successful digital business expansion of local small business owners.
Kakao Class is a program that provides training on how to utilize various Kakao service platforms. It has been jointly operated by Kakao and the Jeju Creative Economy Innovation Center since 2016. As of last year, approximately 6,400 local small business owners and startups have achieved digital transformation in their businesses through Kakao Class.
This year, Kakao is recruiting participants and running training programs in cooperation with 12 regional Creative Economy Innovation Centers. The curriculum is designed to be practical for KakaoTalk Store business owners, covering topics such as strategies for success on KakaoTalk Store, product registration guides to increase sales, know-how for Kakao Shopping Live, and AI-based business management training. Both online and offline courses are available, and applications will be accepted until August 31.
