Gyeonggi Province Launches Housing Environment Improvement Project for Youth Preparing for Independence

The Gyeonggi Provincial Government is launching the "Pest Control Service for Youth Preparing for Independence" project to create a sanitary living environment for young people preparing for independent living.

To this end, the province is partnering with Cesco, a professional pest control company, to visit the residences of these young people, remove pests, and carry out indoor sterilization and disinfection. In addition, to strengthen hygiene management skills, the program provides personal hygiene education and one-on-one lifestyle environment consulting.

Currently, pest control services are being provided to 100 youth preparing for independence who were selected through the first and second rounds of recruitment. Applications for the third round of pest control services are being accepted until August 14.

One participant who received the service commented, "It was difficult to deal with pest or mold problems on my own, but having experts come and inspect and take action was a great help." The participant added, "Through the hygiene education, I realized the importance of keeping my living environment cleaner in the future."

Kwon Moonju, Director of Child Care at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, stated, "This pest control service was planned with the belief that true independence is only possible when young people preparing for independence can live in a healthy environment. The focus of this service goes beyond simple pest control, aiming to help young people manage hygiene themselves and maintain a pleasant living environment." Kwon added, "We will continue to develop and implement customized projects that reflect the diverse and practical needs of youth preparing for independence."
