Seasonal Safety Checks to Expand to Camping and Ritual Goods

The Korea Import Association conducted a safety inspection of summer season products distributed through overseas direct purchase channels and found that 19.3% of the products did not meet domestic safety standards. AliExpress Korea immediately decided to suspend sales of the products that failed to meet the standards.

The Korea Import Association announced on the 11th that, ahead of the summer vacation season, it conducted safety inspections in June and July of water play items and summer season products distributed through overseas direct purchase. This initiative was part of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed with AliExpress Korea in September of last year to strengthen the safety management of overseas direct purchase products. The inspections focused on products with high seasonal demand, aiming to prevent consumer harm and enhance trust in the market.

The association commissioned five major domestic testing and inspection agencies (KTR, KCL, KATRI, KOTITI, FITI) to inspect the safety of a total of 249 summer season items in June and July. The results showed that 201 products (80.7%) met domestic safety standards, while 48 items (19.3%) did not. For products that failed the inspection, AliExpress Korea immediately suspended sales and is strengthening monitoring within the platform to prevent the same products from being relisted.

The inspection covered summer season products such as children's water play items and vacation goods. The association stated that it has taken measures to ensure that items not meeting domestic safety standards will no longer be distributed in Korea. The association explained, "We will continue to expand preemptive safety inspections so that consumers can use overseas products with greater peace of mind."

Starting with summer products, the association plans to conduct regular safety inspections of major seasonal demand items, such as camping and ritual goods, next month.
