Manual-Controlled Action RPG with Pixel Art Sensibility

Kakao Games' new mobile action role-playing game (RPG) "Gadis Order" will be released simultaneously worldwide next month. This comes three years after its first unveiling at G-Star 2022.

Bae Jeonghyeon, CEO of developer Pixeltribe, said at a press conference held on the 7th at Townhall Pangyo in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, "Because manual action RPGs are a challenging genre, development took time," adding, "We are grateful to the fans who have waited."

"Gadis Order" is one of the few new titles Kakao Games is launching in the second half of this year. The game features a medieval fantasy setting, combining the unique sensibility of pixel art with manual-action gameplay optimized for mobile devices. It offers intuitive side-scrolling controls and battle mechanics reminiscent of console games, such as dodging, parrying, and guard breaking, all available on mobile.

The game enhances immersion with strategic elements such as selecting and switching between three knights in real time during combat, as well as a variety of battle content. Each knight has unique attributes and possesses alliance effects that create synergy. The battle environment includes a range of content: "Request," a farming mode (collecting items to enhance character abilities, likened to farming) featuring four types of dungeons and 85 stages; "Northern Front," a challenge mode with weekly changing battle rules; "Knight Grand Prix," an asynchronous player-versus-player (PvP) mode; and "Black Rift," which consists of multiple high-difficulty bosses.

After a limited release in countries such as Malaysia and Singapore at the end of June, the team has been refining the game based on local user feedback. The official release will support six languages: Korean, English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Spanish.

A Kakao Games official stated, "We invested considerable time and effort to enhance localization quality," adding, "In particular, we worked to ensure the narrative is delivered naturally to improve story comprehension." The official continued, "We are establishing localized marketing strategies by leveraging the characteristics of each country's market and major user acquisition channels, and we are also planning integrated global marketing."

With Kakao Games having significantly revised its new release schedule, attention is focused on whether "Gadis Order" will help boost the company's performance. During its recent Q2 earnings conference call, Kakao Games announced that it had postponed the release dates of several new titles, including "Chrono Odyssey," originally scheduled for this year, to next year. The reason cited was to improve overall quality.

CEO Bae commented, "We expect strong results in our target markets of Korea and Taiwan," adding, "Given the game's unique nature, we believe there will be players worldwide who find it especially appealing." He continued, "Discussions regarding collaboration with 'Crusaders Quest' were conducted in a casual manner," and stated, "We will continue to expand content so that 'Gadis Order' can be enjoyed stably over the long term." "Crusaders Quest" is a popular game developed by the core team at Pixeltribe, with a global cumulative download count of 25 million.

Meanwhile, Kakao Games began global pre-registration for "Gadis Order" on July 23. Domestic users can pre-register via the Kakao Games page and app markets, while overseas users can do so through the global brand page or app markets. All users who participate in pre-registration will receive in-game items, with additional items provided for those who pre-register via app markets.
