FedEx Cup Ranking 41st, Advances to BMW Championship
Rose Wins in Playoff, Spaun Runner-Up, Im Sungjae Ties for 17th
Siwoo Kim has advanced to the second round of the PGA Tour playoffs.
On August 10 (Korean time), Kim shot a 1-under-par 69 in the final round of the first playoff event, the FedEx St. Jude Championship (total prize money: $20 million), held at TPC Southwind (par 70) in Memphis, Tennessee. He tied for 14th place with a total of 8-under-par 272. Kim moved up five spots in the FedEx Cup rankings, from 46th to 41st. He has secured his spot in the second round of the playoffs, the BMW Championship (total prize money: $20 million), which features the top 50 players.

Kim started the day tied for 10th and carded three birdies and two bogeys. He had a shaky start with a bogey on the 4th hole (par 3), but gained momentum with back-to-back birdies on the 6th and 7th holes, followed by another birdie on the 12th hole (par 4). However, he made par on the next five holes before dropping a shot on the final 18th hole (par 4) after his tee shot landed in a bunker.
Justin Rose, this year's Masters runner-up, claimed his 12th career PGA Tour victory. He shot a 3-under-par 67 to tie J.J. Spaun (USA) at 16-under-par 264, then secured the win with a birdie on the third playoff hole, which resumed at the 18th. This marks his first victory in two and a half years, since the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February 2023. He earned a winner's check of $3.6 million (approximately 5 billion won).
Tommy Fleetwood (England), who led after the previous round, managed to lower his score by only one stroke and fell to a tie for third at 15-under-par 265. His bid for a first PGA Tour victory in his 162nd start slipped away. While he has seven wins on the DP World Tour, Fleetwood has finished runner-up six times on the PGA Tour. Defending champion and world number one Scottie Scheffler (USA) shot 3-under-par to also finish tied for third.
Sungjae Im closed with a strong finish, carding a 3-under-par round to jump to a tie for 17th at 7-under-par 273. He climbed four spots to 24th in the FedEx Cup rankings, making him a strong contender to qualify for the Tour Championship, the final playoff event featuring the top 30 players. The PGA Tour will hold the BMW Championship at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland, on August 14.
