"I Will Restore the Once Beautiful Capital"
On August 11 (local time), U.S. President Donald Trump is scheduled to hold a press conference to announce measures to eradicate violent crime and beautify the city in Washington, D.C. He reiterated his commitment to removing the homeless and improving the capital.
On August 10, President Trump announced on his self-created social networking service, Truth Social, "A press conference on crime and beautification will be held tomorrow (the 11th) at 10 a.m.," adding, "We will focus on eradicating crime, murder, and death occurring in the capital, as well as on the cleanliness and overall physical maintenance and condition of a city that was once beautiful and well-managed."
In another post, he urged the homeless to leave Washington, D.C., stating, "We will provide places for the homeless to stay far away from the capital." He went on to say, "Criminals will be put in jail where they belong, so there is no need for them to leave the city," and added, "All of these measures will be implemented very quickly, just as we did at the border."
President Trump referred to his strengthened border enforcement after taking office, which he claimed blocked the influx of illegal immigrants, stating, "Millions have poured in over the past few months, but now the number is zero." He further emphasized that the expulsion of the homeless and the arrest of criminals "will be easier and is already prepared," declaring, "There will be no more 'Mr. Nice Guy.' We will take back our capital."
Regarding Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, he described her as "a good person who tries," but criticized, "There have been many opportunities, yet the crime rate has worsened, and the city is becoming increasingly dirty and losing its appeal." He also mentioned the renovation costs of the Federal Reserve headquarters in Washington, D.C., pointing out, "There was no need to spend $3.1 billion; it could have been repaired more elegantly and in a more timely manner for $50 million to $100 million."
Previously, on August 5, President Trump posted on social media about violent crime in Washington, D.C., warning that if the situation remained uncontrolled, he would convert the capital into a federally administered district. As a result, attention is focused on whether he will announce expanded federal intervention measures at the crime eradication press conference scheduled for the following day.
