Genesis, the luxury brand of Hyundai Motor Company, announced on August 10 that it has opened a permanent showroom measuring 895 square meters in District 5 of New Cairo, near Cairo, Egypt, as it begins to target the electric vehicle market in the Middle East and Africa.
Previously, on August 7 (local time), Genesis officially announced its entry into Egypt in partnership with local partner GB Auto, establishing its first sales base in Africa. In May of last year, Genesis also operated a pop-up showroom in Mauritius, an island nation in the Indian Ocean off the east coast of Africa.
With the opening of the showroom, Genesis has begun sales of electric vehicles, including the partially updated GV60, G80, and GV70 electrified models. The company plans to gradually expand its product lineup through 2026. Internal combustion engine models will be sold through pre-order arrangements on a made-to-order basis.
To further strengthen its identity as a luxury brand, Genesis is also offering tailored care services for local customers. These include a five-year free warranty and maintenance, home delivery, door-to-door maintenance, 24-hour emergency roadside assistance, and global concierge services.
Prior to its official entry into Egypt, Genesis secured initial demand by offering corporate special sales to local Korean and Egyptian companies.
In the Middle East market, Genesis sold 1,078 units in 2020 and 2,824 units in 2021. After establishing the Genesis Middle East and Africa Regional Headquarters (GMEA) in 2022, sales surged to 4,602 units in 2022, 6,700 units in 2023, and 8,000 units last year.
