Hampyeong County to Promote Local Tax Reductions for Residents Affected by Heavy Rainfall

Hampyeong County to Promote Local Tax Reductions for Residents Affected by Heavy Rainfall Jeonnam Hampyeong County Office building.

Hampyeong County in Jeonnam is launching a range of support measures, including local tax reductions, to alleviate the financial burden on residents affected by the recent heavy rains and to help them quickly return to their daily lives.

According to Hampyeong County on August 10, the county will implement tax support measures such as "local tax reductions and collection deferments" for residents who suffered property damage due to the heavy rainfall.

Eligible recipients are residents registered in the National Disaster Management System (NDMS) or those who have received a damage confirmation certificate from an administrative agency.

The county plans to extend the filing and payment deadlines for self-reported taxes such as acquisition tax, and to defer the collection of imposed taxes such as property tax.

Additionally, if real estate or vehicles were destroyed or damaged by the heavy rains and subsequently replaced, the county will exempt acquisition tax and registration license tax for those properties, and will also exempt automobile tax for damaged vehicles.

Furthermore, the county plans to reduce the August resident tax (for business establishments) to further ease the financial burden on residents affected by the flooding.

In addition, to reduce the management burden on farmers, the county will waive agricultural machinery rental fees for three months, until November 7, for farmers who report disaster damage.

If residents bring a damage confirmation certificate to the agricultural machinery rental office (main office, eastern branch, or western branch), the rental fee will be waived for the same type of equipment.

Lee Sangik, Mayor of Hampyeong County, stated, "I offer my deepest condolences to all residents who have lost their homes and are facing hardship due to the flooding," and added, "We will mobilize all available administrative resources, including tax support, to actively assist every resident so that each person can return to normal life as soon as possible."
