'Kkumdori Hodugwaja' sold 1,000 boxes in a single day on August 8 at the Daejeon Zero Hour Festival, signaling a surge in popularity.

The City of Daejeon began selling the walnut pastry, which officially launched in July, at the 'Kkumdori Supermarket,' a pop-up store in the Future Zone.

In particular, the pastry is praised for its moist texture due to a high egg content and the pleasant crunch of walnuts. As a result, in line with Daejeon's reputation as the "city of waiting," long lines formed from the very first day, and purchases were limited to two boxes per person.

Kkumdori Hodugwaja is available in a basic version and two signature varieties coated in yellow and pink chocolate. However, during the Zero Hour Festival, it is sold in a special festival box containing 10 pieces: 8 basic and 2 chocolate-coated. Each box is priced at 6,000 won.

Kim Jongmin, Director of Welfare at the Daejeon City Government, stated, "Kkumdori Hodugwaja is a product that enhances Daejeon's brand value by using the city character for marketing. Its cute appearance and delicious taste will make it extremely popular," adding, "It is even more meaningful that the sales profits will be used as a self-reliance fund for young people."
