The police are investigating claims that an assault took place during a party member meeting convened to discuss sexual harassment allegations against an official of the National Innovation Party.
On August 8, Yonhap News reported, "Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul received a complaint on August 2 regarding four officials of the Innovation Party on charges including assault and has launched an investigation."
The complainant, a man in his 60s identified as A, claims that he attended a National Innovation Party member meeting held at the National Assembly on July 3 and was assaulted three times by these individuals, resulting in injuries to his wrist, knee, and other areas. The meeting was organized to gather opinions on a sexual harassment case within the party.
A police official told Yonhap News, "We plan to proceed with the investigation of the complainant and other procedures as required." The police are also continuing a related investigation after receiving a complaint last April alleging that a party official was sexually harassed by a superior within the Innovation Party.
