Pusan National University (President Choi Jaewon) announced on August 8 that it received an 'S grade' in the Education Innovation Performance category and an 'A grade' in the Internal Performance Management category in the '2025 National University Development Project Performance Evaluation' organized by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea.
As a result, Pusan National University secured a total project budget of 26.7 billion KRW this year, including 16.5 billion KRW in incentives.
This evaluation focused on two main categories: ▲Education Innovation Performance and ▲Internal Performance Management. Pusan National University received high marks for its student-centered institutional reforms, such as the operation of the Leap Class System, activation of multiple majors, reorganization of the educational system, improvement of the transfer system, and promotion of the restructuring of faculty workload requirements. In particular, the university was recognized for its outstanding achievements in ensuring students' choice of majors based on demand and increasing institutional flexibility.
Additionally, Pusan National University established a leading example in edutech-based teaching and learning innovation by developing an AI-based industry-academia cooperation teaching model and building a modular and track-based convergent education system based on research outcomes from the 'PNU Pentomino' curriculum. These efforts laid the foundation for the university to receive the S grade in the education innovation category.
Lee Hajoon, Dean of Academic Affairs (Professor of Electrical Engineering), stated, "Pusan National University has flexibly responded to the changing educational environment and has prioritized student growth as its core value, driving educational innovation accordingly." He emphasized, "This achievement is a practical and meaningful result accomplished collectively by all university members."
Hwang Sungwook, Dean of Planning (Professor of Media and Communication Studies), said, "The systematic internal innovation of Pusan National University to fulfill its public role and social responsibility as a national flagship university was confirmed through this performance evaluation." He added, "We will do our utmost to realize sustainable growth and the public value of higher education."
