The Community Chest of Korea (Chairman Kim Byungjun) announced on August 8 that S.Coups (real name Choi Seungcheol), the leader of the group Seventeen, donated 50 million won to support children from low-income families in celebration of his birthday (August 8).
With this donation, S.Coups became the 3,710th member of the Honor Society, a high-value donor group of the Community Chest of Korea. The Honor Society is a group of individual donors who have contributed at least 100 million won or pledged to donate that amount within five years.
According to S.Coups’s wishes to support children and adolescents, the donation will be used to provide meal expenses for children at risk of skipping meals during the summer vacation. In particular, the funds will be used to help the healthy growth of children from vulnerable backgrounds, focusing on local children's centers nationwide.
S.Coups said, “Thanks to the love of my fans, my birthday has become a special day every year. To express my gratitude, I wanted to give back some of the love I have received to society,” adding, “I support the healthy growth of all children and adolescents.”
S.Coups has consistently practiced sharing, showing interest in various fields such as child welfare and animal protection. In addition to this birthday donation, he has made several contributions to animal shelters and rescue organizations, supporting medical expenses and the rescue of abused animals. He has also continued his positive influence by donating to various disaster relief efforts, including relief funds for wildfire victims in Ulsan, North Gyeongsang, and South Gyeongsang in March.
