Kim Byungman Admits to Having an Extramarital Child
Plans to Explain His Position on Broadcast After Marital Breakdown
Comedian Kim Byungman, who is preparing for remarriage, has admitted to having an extramarital child but explained that this occurred "after the breakdown of his marriage." This response comes after it was recently revealed that the daughter of his ex-wife filed a paternity lawsuit against him.
His agency, Sky Turtle, stated on the 7th, "We have not been able to verify the authenticity of the lawsuit filed by the ex-wife's daughter, A. We have not yet received the complaint," and added, "The result of A's disavowal of adoption lawsuit will be announced on the 8th, but it appears that the lawsuit was filed based on unreasonable claims." The agency also said, "Kim Byungman had two children with his fianc?e after the breakdown of his marriage with his ex-wife, B," and added that he plans to address the matter directly on a broadcast later this month.
According to a media report, A filed a lawsuit at the Seoul Family Court to confirm the existence of a parent-child relationship with Kim Byungman. A's side claimed, "Kim Byungman had a child with another woman while he was still married to B," and stated, "Because there are interests at stake, such as inheritance, it is necessary to confirm whether Kim Byungman is the biological parent. We request a court order for a genetic test."
Kim Byungman registered his marriage with B, a non-celebrity woman seven years his senior, in 2010 and adopted her daughter, A, from her previous marriage as his own child. After more than ten years of living separately, they divorced in 2023. Kim Byungman filed three lawsuits to disavow the adoption of A; two were dismissed, and the verdict for the remaining case is scheduled for the 8th.
Kim Byungman is scheduled to hold his remarriage ceremony with a younger office worker on the rooftop of Sebitseom on the Han River in Seoul on September 20.
