According to the Jeonbuk Provincial Police Agency and other sources, at around 6:00 p.m. on the 7th, an employee discovered the body of a man in his 40s, identified as A, at a worksite in Bongdong-eup, Wanju County, and reported it to the police. No evidence of a violent crime has been found, and authorities are investigating the exact cause of death.

A had recently been under police investigation on suspicion of offering bribes in connection with the signboard maintenance project promoted by Iksan City. A search and seizure operation was recently conducted, and police are believed to have obtained evidence during this process indicating that money was delivered to an Iksan City official. After being questioned as a suspect, A reportedly confided to those around him about the psychological distress he was experiencing.

Previously, police arrested and referred for prosecution an Iksan City official, identified as B, with the rank of section chief (Grade 5), on charges of accepting bribes in exchange for steering work from the signboard maintenance project to a specific company. Local community was shocked when local gift certificates and cash amounting to tens of millions of won were found in B's vehicle.

A police official stated, "We are investigating the specific circumstances, including the time and cause of death," adding, "It is difficult to disclose further details at this time."
