Hwasun County announced on August 7 that Iseo-myeon in Hwasun County has been additionally designated and declared a special disaster area by the government in connection with the damage caused by continuous heavy rain from July 16 to 20.

As a result, Iseo-myeon in Hwasun County will receive additional national funding to cover part of the restoration costs that would otherwise have been borne by the county, thereby reducing its financial burden.

During the period of heavy rain, Iseo-myeon suffered severe damage, including flooded homes, loss of farmland, and the collapse of roads and river facilities.

With this designation as a special disaster area, a variety of support measures such as increased government funding, tax reductions, and reduced public utility charges will become available, which is expected to significantly alleviate the suffering of residents.

Hwasun County Governor Koo Bokgyu stated, "With this declaration, we will establish a prompt and systematic restoration plan and mobilize all administrative resources to ensure that residents' lives can return to normal as soon as possible."
