This inspection initiative was established in consideration of the summer season's high temperatures and humidity, which increase the risk of odor dispersion. The city plans to focus its preventive management efforts on 14 businesses identified as having a high risk of generating odor complaints.

The inspections will be carried out jointly with the Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office, the Gyeongsangnam-do Institute of Health and Environment, and district offices. The inspections will cover whether odor prevention facilities are operating properly, as well as the sealing and management status of major process equipment. For businesses found to exceed emission standards or violate laws, the city will take strong administrative actions, including improvement orders and fines.

In particular, for businesses with high levels of odor emissions, the city will check the adequacy of prevention facilities, discuss directions for improvement such as process upgrades and the use of odor-reducing chemicals, and take measures to minimize odor generation.

Choi Jongok, Director of the Climate and Environment Bureau, stated, "This summer, with frequent heat waves and heavy rains, there are significant concerns that high temperatures and humidity could cause industrial odors to affect residential areas. We will do our utmost to minimize inconvenience for citizens and to create a pleasant living environment through intensive management of areas at risk of odor issues."
