Held from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at Moraenae Market Area
Jeonju City in North Jeolla Province will host the "8th Moraenae Market Chimac Gamac Festival" over two days on August 22 and 23 along the Moraenae Market Street area.
According to the city on August 7, the Moraenae Market Chimac Gamac Festival is a signature traditional market event in Jeonju, where visitors can enjoy crispy chicken freshly made at the market, a variety of foods, and cold beer all in one place.
The festival will run from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. each day for two days. In addition to food booths operated directly by market vendors, there will also be exciting cultural events such as a nighttime EDM party and celebratory performances, offering entertainment to citizens and tourists weary from the summer heat.
The city plans to use this event to show citizens, especially the younger generation, that traditional markets are evolving beyond simply places to shop and are becoming venues for cultural enjoyment.
Kim Byungkwon, president of the Moraenae Market Merchants Association, said, "Although there are challenges in preparing for this festival, it is even more rewarding to see so many people returning to the market each year through this event. I hope to continue organizing festivals that can revitalize traditional markets in the future."
