The Daegaya Museum in Goryeong is offering a history experience program tailored to children during the summer vacation.
The Daegaya Museum in Goryeong-gun, North Gyeongsang Province, will operate hands-on and educational programs for visitors every weekend from August 9 to August 23, 2025.
This program is designed mainly for families with elementary school children and features creative experience content that explains the stories behind ancient Daegaya tombs and relics in an accessible way.
Visitors will learn about the historical significance of relics found in tombs, including the "gold crown" symbolizing the Daegaya king, and will have the opportunity to make their own stamps and scented candles, allowing them to experience a sense of historical achievement. The hands-on sessions will be held six times a day every Saturday and Sunday, and participation is on a first-come, first-served basis without prior reservation.
The museum stated, "With the inscription of the Jisandong Tumuli as a World Heritage site, we aim to enhance understanding of Daegaya's 1,500-year-old history and provide opportunities to reinterpret the beauty of cultural heritage in a modern context. We will also make learning more engaging through a five-senses experience that includes visual, tactile, and olfactory elements."
Participants will be able to take their completed works home, which is expected to foster family conversations about history.
Lee Namcheol, the county governor, said, "I hope children will naturally develop an interest in history by directly experiencing the brilliant culture of Daegaya," and added, "We will continue to develop educational and hands-on programs tailored to children's perspectives."
