Lease Deposit Support of 20 Million Won Provided to Four Vulnerable Households Without Homes
Geochang County announced on August 7 that it delivered a lease deposit of 20 million won for the HUG Dream Home Support Project to four vulnerable households without homes in the county, during a ceremony held at the county governor's office.
The recipients of this ceremony were vulnerable groups in Geochang County who are struggling with the burden of housing costs, including people with disabilities, single parents, elderly people living alone, and middle-aged individuals. Each household received a lease deposit of 5 million won.
The 'HUG Dream Home Support Project' is a program selected by the Korea National Council on Social Welfare and sponsored annually by the Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG) to promote housing stability and improve the quality of living environments for vulnerable households without homes. The lease deposit is managed as the deposit for the rented house for two years. After this period, the support recipient becomes the owner of the deposit and can use it freely.
From 2014 to 2024, the Geochang County Council on Social Welfare supported a total of 27 households with 156 million won. This year, four households were selected and each received 5 million won, giving hope to vulnerable households struggling to secure a lease deposit.
One of the recipients who received the lease deposit said, "I am deeply grateful because it feels like my once unstable living situation is finally becoming secure. I hope that Geochang will continue to become the best welfare city, where everyone can move forward together with even greater social attention and care for vulnerable groups."
Governor Koo Inmo stated, "I am grateful to the Geochang County Council on Social Welfare for helping to address the most fundamental housing insecurity. The county will also continue to listen to residents and provide even more comprehensive support through the identification of vulnerable groups and customized case management."
