Four Playgrounds Including Seongnam Botanical Garden Forest Playground
Achieve Overall Citizen Satisfaction Score of 85.7 Points, Rated "Very Excellent"
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor: Shin Sangjin) announced on August 7 that the comprehensive satisfaction score among citizens for its playground expansion project, which has been underway since 2023 to address the lack of facilities at small-scale children's playgrounds in the old downtown area, was found to be 85.7 points, indicating a "very excellent" rating.
This evaluation is based on a satisfaction survey commissioned by the city to the academic research and survey institution With Research, conducted from June 17 to 30, 2025. The survey targeted 110 children and guardians who used four newly established children's playgrounds in the old downtown area.
The surveyed playgrounds were: the Seongnam Botanical Garden Forest Playground, the Yeosuul Children's Playground, the Sagimakgol Green Rest Area (all located in Jungwon-gu), and the Hope Grand Park Forest Playground (located in Sujeong-gu), for a total of four sites.
The satisfaction score (85.7 points) was calculated by applying the Public Institution Service Satisfaction Measurement Model (PCSI 2.0), analyzing 11 questions across 5 categories, and converting the results to a 100-point scale. The ratings are divided into seven levels, including "very satisfied" (100-85.7 points) and "satisfied" (85.6-71.4 points). Among all respondents, 71.8% (78 people) answered that they would continue to use the playgrounds in the future. The Seongnam Botanical Garden Forest Playground received the highest rating among the four sites, with a score of 90.2 points.
From January 2023 to December 2024, Seongnam City newly established a total of seven playgrounds in the old downtown area. The city introduced play facilities such as zip lines and basket swings to stimulate children's curiosity and physical activity, and also provided convenience facilities such as pergolas and benches for guardians and residents to enhance user convenience.
In particular, this satisfaction survey was notable for adjusting the questionnaire to suit the perspectives of children, the actual users, as well as guardians. Areas for improvement identified included diversifying play facilities and further refurbishing aging playgrounds.
This survey was conducted as part of efforts to raise citizen awareness and satisfaction with Seongnam City's top 10 major policies. The confidence level was 95%, and the margin of error was ±9.34 percentage points.
Mayor Shin Sangjin of Seongnam City stated, "By expanding and refurbishing children's playgrounds in the old downtown area, which were relatively lacking compared to the new town, we will address regional imbalances and continuously create an environment where children can play safely and happily."
