Trump to Announce Apple's $100 Billion Investment at the White House
Focus on Expanding Domestic Manufacturing and Supply Chain Relocation
Bloomberg News reported that on August 6 (local time), U.S. President Donald Trump is scheduled to announce Apple's plan to make an additional $100 billion investment in the United States at the White House.
According to Bloomberg, the announcement scheduled for later that afternoon will include the expansion of Apple's efforts to relocate its supply chain to the United States and the launch of a new manufacturing program aimed at producing key components domestically.
White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers stated in a press release, "President Trump's America First economic policy has led to trillions of dollars of investment supporting American jobs and U.S. companies," adding, "Apple's announcement today is another victory for our manufacturing sector, which will contribute to bringing the production of key components back to the United States to protect the U.S. economy and national security."
This investment plan is interpreted as a result of President Trump's policy stance aimed at revitalizing American manufacturing. Previously, President Trump had warned that Apple would face tariffs of more than 25% if it continued to keep its iPhone production base overseas.
