The Jeollanam-do Governor’s Commendation was awarded to Kim Yeonhee, who has contributed to population revitalization as a member of the Citizen Participation Group for Population Policy. This month’s Volunteer King was Kim Hyunsook, a member of the Sarangnanugi Volunteer Group.

Since starting volunteer work at welfare facilities in 2008, Kim Hyunsook has steadily engaged in various activities to help neighbors in need, including operating a free meal service, checking on the well-being of seniors, delivering lunch boxes, and participating in flood recovery efforts. To date, she has completed a total of 384 volunteer activities, amounting to 1,639 hours of service.

In particular, she was recognized as the most outstanding volunteer for her record of 19 volunteer activities and 84 hours of service during the month of June alone.

In addition, Kang Kisung, Commander of the Gwangyang City Reserve Forces Mobile Unit, 1st Battalion, 95th Infantry Brigade, received a commendation for his voluntary participation in the search for a missing senior in Golmak Village, Goryak-dong in July, dedicating himself to search operations in both mountainous and coastal areas.

Jung Inhwa, Mayor of Gwangyang, stated, "I sincerely thank all the volunteers who have fostered a culture of warm sharing throughout our community. Just the other day, volunteers came out to help with flood recovery efforts in Daap-myeon, which was recently affected by heavy rains, and I believe these volunteer activities are the driving force behind our city."
