Starting with Asian Companies in August
Increased Demand for Training Due to U.S. Tariff Measures

As the ability of overseas subsidiaries and branches to respond becomes increasingly important due to U.S. tariff measures, the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) will launch a trade practice training program this month to strengthen the job competencies of local employees at Korean companies operating abroad.

On August 6, KITA announced the launch of the "K-Corporate Global Employee Trade Camp." Recently, due to the impact of U.S. tariff measures, the trade environment has become significantly differentiated by country for the overseas business sites of Korean companies. As a result, not only the headquarters in Korea but also the responsiveness of overseas subsidiaries and branches has become crucial. In response to these changes, KITA has prepared this program to enhance the practical skills of local employees working at the overseas subsidiaries and branches of Korean companies.

KITA reported that within just two weeks of recruitment, a total of 277 applicants from seven countries, including China, Japan, Vietnam, and Indonesia, had applied for the program.

An employee of Company A, located in Jakarta, Indonesia, is attending the online lecture of the "K-Enterprise Global Employee Trade Camp" hosted by the Korea International Trade Association on the 5th. KITA.

The training targets locally hired employees who are proficient in Korean and work at overseas subsidiaries or branches and require an understanding of trade and commerce practices. The program will be conducted in real-time online lectures, divided by continent to account for time zone differences. For companies operating in Asia, the program will begin in August, while for those in the Americas and Europe, it will start in October. Participants will attend classes twice a week for approximately four weeks.

Jung Heecheol, Secretary General of the KITA Trade Academy, stated, "As trade conditions with the United States become increasingly differentiated by country and industry, it is a more important time than ever for employees to possess strong trade practice skills." He added, "KITA will actively support the capacity building of our companies by providing various customized programs, including this training."
