The '100-Won Bus for Children and Youth' program in Iksan, Jeollabuk-do, has surpassed 10,000 applicants and is settling in smoothly.

According to the city on August 5, as of the end of last month, 2,378 children (17.8%) out of 13,341 and 7,838 youths (50.1%) out of 15,633 have applied for the exclusive transportation card.

In particular, more than half of the youths, who have high demand for commuting to and from school, received their cards within just one month of the program's implementation, raising expectations for the spread of public transportation use.

The city expanded the 100-won bus fare system, which was implemented for children last year, to include youths starting in July this year. Children can receive up to 30,000 won per month in transportation subsidies, while youths can receive up to 50,000 won per month.

It is important to note that using buses from other regions, making multi-passenger payments, or failing to tap the card on the reader when getting off are excluded from the support.

Reimbursements for July usage can be received through the 'Haengbokdeohagi' app from August 19 to 26, and can be recharged for transportation expenses. If not claimed, the reimbursement will expire, so it is essential to apply within the deadline.

The city will focus on intensive promotion targeting those who have not yet applied, simplify the issuance process for the exclusive transportation card, and strengthen guidance services to increase participation. In addition, the city plans to review expanding the scope of support and improving services based on an analysis of the program's effectiveness.

Mayor Jung Heon-yul said, "The participation of more than 10,000 applicants shows the high level of interest among citizens," and added, "We will continue to manage and support this program so that it can help reduce transportation costs and revitalize public transportation."
