The petition, which was posted on the Gyeonggi Province petition board for one month starting June 7, drew participation from more than 10,000 people. In response, Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon officially announced the province's position on the Yangju City Integrated Funeral Facility on August 4.

In his response, Governor Kim Dong-yeon stated, "Residents in northern Gyeonggi are experiencing difficulties as they must travel to other cities and provinces for funeral services. The authority to establish funeral facilities rests with the mayor," and he recommended, "Yangju City should communicate sufficiently with residents."

Reflecting the province's recommendation, Yangju City announced plans to form a conflict mediation council in accordance with the "Ordinance on the Prevention and Resolution of Conflicts in Gyeonggi Province" and to establish various communication channels, such as on-site resident briefings, in order to actively engage with citizens.

A city official said, "We take Gyeonggi Province's recommendation very seriously, and we will pursue the project with a responsible attitude through sincere dialogue and thorough communication with citizens."

Meanwhile, the Yangju City Joint-Type Integrated Funeral Facility construction project is a public initiative aimed at resolving the inconvenience of citizens in the northeastern region of Gyeonggi Province, who currently have to travel long distances to places such as Seongnam and Incheon for cremation services due to the absence of local facilities.
