On August 5, President Lee Jaemyung announced that he would not appeal the first-instance court decision regarding the cancellation of the dismissal of former Korea Communications Standards Commission Chairman Chung Yeonju and former Vice Chairman Lee Gwangbok.
Kang Yujeong, spokesperson for the Presidential Office, made this announcement in a written briefing on the same day.
The Seoul Administrative Court had ruled on July 17 that the dismissal of Chairman Chung and Vice Chairman Lee by former President Yoon Sukyeol was unlawful and should be overturned.
Spokesperson Kang explained, "President Lee Jaemyung has decided to respect the court's ruling and to correct the unlawful and unjust measures taken by the previous administration by foregoing an appeal."
Spokesperson Kang added, "The Lee Jaemyung administration will continue to make every effort to ensure the public nature and fairness of broadcasting."
