According to the animal rights group CARE, on July 31, a stray dog with a serious head injury was discovered in a village in Naju. The dog showed signs of having been struck multiple times on the head with a hammer and collapsed after appearing in the village while bleeding.
The dog was transported to a hospital via the local stray dog shelter and was in a coma at the time. A citizen has since taken on temporary care, providing intensive treatment. The dog is now showing signs of recovery, such as slowly eating softened food, and is currently called 'Lucky.'
In an interview with our publication, a representative from the group stated, "When we first brought the dog to the hospital, the veterinarian said recovery might be difficult, but now the condition is gradually improving." The representative added, "It appears the dog suffered a severe brain injury, so we plan to conduct an MRI after monitoring the progress." They also said, "We are supporting the treatment costs while simultaneously proceeding with legal action, and we filed a complaint with the Naju Police Station this morning."

CARE is focusing on the fact that this incident occurred around Boknal. The group stated, "Considering that a blunt object, not an electric shock device, was used, and that the rescue was delayed, missing the golden hour, it appears to have been a covert attempt to capture a dog in a rural village." They added, "We cannot simply ignore a dog that fled with a fractured skull in a desperate attempt to survive. We are committed to ensuring justice for animals."
The incident has sparked outrage among online users. Comments such as "It must have been so painful. It's amazing the dog thought to run away," and "I hope the perpetrator is severely punished. Please," reflect the calls for investigation and punishment of those responsible.
