Real-Time Dispatch and Call Center Innovation
KAPPD Chungnam Branch Takes Over Operations, Marking Major Service Transformation
Chungnam Province will significantly improve metropolitan transportation convenience for vulnerable groups such as the elderly and people with disabilities.
The province has initiated a comprehensive overhaul of its mobility support services, including a faster and more accurate dispatch system, ICT-based call center innovation, and improvements to working conditions.
On August 5, the province announced that it had selected the Chungnam branch of the Korea Association of Persons with Physical Disabilities as the new operator of the Chungcheongnam-do Metropolitan Mobility Support Center. The province is currently pursuing a complete reorganization plan, including the advancement of the control system, enhancement of call center functions, and expansion of personnel.
The Metropolitan Mobility Support Center is an institution that supports the dispatch of special transportation vehicles 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, enabling transportation-vulnerable individuals?such as people with disabilities, the elderly, and pregnant women?to travel freely across cities and counties.
In Chungnam, there are approximately 32,000 registered transportation-vulnerable individuals. On average, more than 2,000 trips per day are made using wheelchair-accessible vehicles (234 vehicles) and voucher taxis (120 vehicles).
The province has completely upgraded its integrated control system. By using real-time location tracking and an optimal dispatch algorithm, it minimizes user wait times and travel gaps, and also strengthens emergency response capabilities.
The call center will incorporate information and communication technology (ICT) to streamline processes from application to dispatch, reducing user inconvenience.
In addition, the province plans to improve the working conditions of counselors and increase staffing to establish a sustainable operating system.
Choi Dongseok, Director of Construction and Transportation for the province, stated, "This transition of the operating institution is not simply a change in delegation, but the beginning of a service transformation," adding, "We will continue to improve the system so that all transportation-vulnerable individuals in the province can travel without restrictions of time or space."
