"From Among Five Elite Teams,
Aiming for the Final Selection"
Law&Company announced on August 5 that it has been selected as one of five elite teams to participate in a consortium led by Upstage for the "Independent Artificial Intelligence (AI) Foundation Model" project, which is supervised by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
Among the elite teams chosen as beneficiaries of the Independent AI Foundation project, Law&Company is the only legal tech company selected.
The Independent AI Foundation Model project aims to build a sovereign AI with global competitiveness by selecting a "national representative AI" from among elite teams based on public-private cooperation. The Upstage consortium, which includes Law&Company, received high marks for its detailed plan to create an AI innovation ecosystem in key industries such as law, manufacturing, and defense through the development of "Solar WBL (World Best Large Language Model)," earning it the "K-AI" title.
The Upstage consortium consists of a total of 13 organizations, including Law&Company. Its goal is to develop an independent AI foundation model at a global frontier level and establish a sustainable domestic AI ecosystem to secure technological sovereignty in AI. In this process, Law&Company is responsible for developing industry-specific solutions and promoting global expansion based on its expertise in legal AI technology validation and legal AI service experience.
Kim Bonhwan, CEO of Law&Company, stated, "We will fully leverage the technical know-how we have accumulated in the legal field to actively contribute to the development of a national representative AI model and the creation of a sustainable AI ecosystem."
