Another round of rain has been forecast for Gwangju and Jeonnam, which have already been hit by two bouts of extreme heavy rainfall.
According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration on August 4, a low-pressure system moving eastward from the West Sea is expected to bring showers accompanied by thunder and lightning until the morning of August 5. The expected rainfall is 10 to 60 millimeters in Gwangju and Jeonnam, with more than 80 millimeters anticipated in eastern Jeonnam.
As the rain continues and temperatures rise, a heat advisory was issued for all areas of Gwangju and Jeonnam as of 11 a.m. on August 4. Morning temperatures are expected to range from 23 to 27 degrees Celsius, and daytime highs will reach 31 to 36 degrees Celsius through August 7.
Waves in the coastal waters of the West Sea and South Sea are expected to reach 1.5 meters, while ultrafine dust concentrations are forecast to remain at a 'good' level.
An official from the meteorological administration stated, "Given that a significant amount of rain has already fallen, there is a high possibility that rain or showers will continue. Visibility may suddenly decrease, and some roads may become slippery or flooded, so we urge everyone to pay close attention to traffic safety and take precautions to prevent accidents."
