Theme: "Rewind and Play Forward"
Jindo County in South Jeolla Province is providing a platform for intergenerational cultural exchange by offering free screenings of classic masterpieces and art films at a small cinema.
On August 4, Jindo Arirang Cinema announced that it will hold a special exhibition titled "Rewind and Play Forward" every Tuesday and Saturday from September 5 to October 31.
This special exhibition aims to broaden cultural experiences for local residents and film enthusiasts by screening all films free of charge. It is organized under the theme "The Power of Small Cinemas Connecting Classics and the Present, and Bridging Generations."
In particular, by carefully selecting and screening classic masterpieces and independent/art films that are rarely shown in large theaters, the event is expected to provide an opportunity for different generations to share cinematic emotions and memories.
The lineup includes classic films such as "Whale Hunting," "One Fine Spring Day," and "My Sassy Girl," which evoke nostalgia for the parent generation, as well as independent and art films with social messages such as "The World of Us," "Right Now, Right Here," and "Mungchi on the Road."
After the exhibition, Jindo Arirang Cinema plans to conduct a survey among the audience to select "films you want to see again" and hold a special screening in November, continuing ongoing communication with viewers.
A cinema representative stated, "We hope this special exhibition will establish our small cinema as a cultural hub and a space for generational empathy in the region," adding, "We look forward to this being a valuable time to bridge emotional distances and build shared memories through film."
