Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry Leads the Way in Overcoming Low Birthrate
by Creating a Family-Friendly Corporate Culture
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam will launch a relay campaign for a happy community under the slogan "Overcoming Low Birthrate! Together with Piumi!" from August to December.
Jaeho Choi, Chairman of Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Gyeongnam, participates in the relay campaign.
"Overcoming Low Birthrate! Together with Piumi!" symbolically conveys that marriage, childbirth, and parenting are precious values compared to flowers, which everyone must nurture and help bloom together. The campaign also features Piumi, the mascot symbolizing hope in Changwon, adding a sense of familiarity.
The first participant in this relay campaign is the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which has set "Creating a family-friendly corporate culture and taking the lead in overcoming the low birthrate" as its action agenda, emphasizing the responsibilities and roles of the industrial sector.
Choi Jaeho, Chairman of the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated, "Overcoming the low birthrate is an essential task for building a sustainable society," and added, "Companies will actively contribute to solving the low birthrate issue by providing stable jobs and creating a work-life balance."
The relay will continue with participation from religious groups, academia, and civic organizations, with plans to spread messages and propose practical solutions for overcoming the low birthrate in each sector.
Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City, said, "Solving the low birthrate issue is a process of nurturing new hope for Changwon," and expressed hope that "the happy community relay campaign will become a valuable opportunity to foster unity and change in the region."
