Im Jong-sik, North Gyeongsang Superintendent: "I Will Achieve Innovation and Growth by Listening to the Voices of the Younger Generation"

'Reverse Mentoring' Event
A Conversation with Nine MZ Generation Public Officials

On August 4 at 3:00 PM, the North Gyeongsang Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Im Jong-sik) will hold a 'Reverse Mentoring' event at the Smart Office in the education office building to foster communication and empathy between the younger generation and the superintendent.

'Reverse Mentoring' is a communication program in which nine teachers and general administrative staff members with less than four years of work experience serve as mentors, while the superintendent becomes the mentee. This program provides an opportunity to view education and organizational culture from the perspective of the MZ generation.

This event, which first began in 2021, is now in its fifth year and has established itself as a key communication channel for the North Gyeongsang Provincial Office of Education, aiming to promote intergenerational understanding and a horizontal culture within the organization.

This year's event will open with an activity titled 'Expressing Life Mottos through Calligraphy,' allowing participants to share their values and create an open and flexible atmosphere for conversation. Following this, there will be meaningful discussions from the perspective of the younger generation on topics such as changes in the educational field, the work and values of the MZ generation, and the roles required of leaders in today's society, focusing on the changes in education, organizations, and society.

One teacher participating as a mentor said, "I expect this will be a refreshing and meaningful experience, as it goes beyond simply sharing opinions and allows for direct eye contact and conversation with the superintendent."

Im Jong-sik, Superintendent of North Gyeongsang Province, stated, "Through reverse mentoring, it is very meaningful to hear vivid stories about the future of education and organizational culture as seen by the younger generation," and added, "I will continue to listen to the voices of various generations and lead the innovation and growth of education in North Gyeongsang Province through a leadership style that learns and communicates."
