Six Nighttime Circulations from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. to Avoid Heat Wave

The city of Siheung in Gyeonggi Province announced on August 4 that the operation of its 'fully open double-decker city tour bus,' currently in a pilot run, will switch to nighttime operation starting from the 6th.

The city explained that this decision was made based on passenger feedback, on-site monitoring results, and weather conditions such as the heat wave since the start of the pilot operation.

Accordingly, from the 6th, the operation hours will be changed to 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with six circulations per day. Nighttime operation will take place every Wednesday through Sunday. The bus will not operate on Mondays and Tuesdays, and the last bus will depart from the Turtle Island Promotion Center stop at 9:00 p.m.

The bus route has also been improved. Reflecting citizen feedback, a stop near the Marine Ecology Science Center has been added, expanding the number of stops from four to five. To prevent confusion among passengers, the 'Oido Prehistoric Heritage Park' stop has been renamed to 'Baedari Dock.'

Accordingly, the circular route now consists of the following stops: Turtle Island Promotion Center, Marine Ecology Science Center, Baedari Dock, Oido Museum, Turtle Island Marina, and Turtle Island Promotion Center (final stop).

The boarding method remains the same as before, operating on a first-come, first-served basis. Passengers can wait at any desired stop and board without a reservation. Upon boarding, passengers will receive a wrist ticket on the bus and may sit freely.

The pilot operation will continue until September 30, and during this period, rides will be free of charge. However, to ride for free, passengers must participate in a survey. The city plans to switch to a paid system starting October 1.

Siheung Mayor Lim Byeongtaek stated, "We decided on nighttime operation by closely reflecting citizens' actual boarding experiences and on-site conditions," adding, "We will continue to strengthen field-oriented operations so that citizens can truly experience convenience and change."
