Partnering with Seoul Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs
Yeonyanggang, Born in the Year of Liberation
Haitai Confectionery announced on August 4 that it will release the 80th Liberation Day edition of Yeonyanggang, Korea's first snack, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Korea's Liberation.
Haitai Confectionery has partnered with the Seoul Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs. The Seoul Regional Office selected Yeonyanggang, which was launched in the same year as Korea's Liberation, as the main character for this edition in order to remind people of the spirit of patriotism and remembrance. The Liberation Day edition is a limited edition, with only 800,000 units prepared to celebrate Yeonyanggang's birthday.
The Yeonyanggang Liberation 80th Anniversary Edition features five locations symbolizing the independence movement: the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea Memorial Hall, Seodaemun Prison, Ahn Junggeun Memorial Hall, Kim Koo Memorial Hall, and the Independence Hall of Korea. Along with the national flower Mugunghwa, the Yeonyanggang character 'Gaengi' and the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs' mascot 'Bobo' appear on the packaging, delivering messages of history, brand, and public awareness.
An 'Independence Movement History Exploration Event' will also be held, encouraging people to visit these historical sites in person with Yeonyanggang. After visiting the five symbolic locations, participants can upload a verification photo to the Haitai Confectionery website via the package QR code for a chance to win a pair of couple sneakers through a drawing. This event will run until September.
A Haitai Confectionery representative stated, "As Korea's first snack Yeonyanggang marks its 80th anniversary, this Patriots and Veterans edition expresses our gratitude and respect to the patriotic forebears who dedicated themselves to Korea's independence."
