Efforts to prevent crime and ensure a safe vacation season
The North Gyeongsang Provincial Police Agency visited Goraebul Beach in Yeongdeok and Yeongildae Beach in Pohang on August 1, as the peak vacation season began, to inspect the operation status of the summer police stations and encourage police officers and local government officials working in the heat.
During the on-site inspection, Commissioner Oh personally checked for illegal cameras installed in public restrooms and reviewed overall safety conditions at the vacation spots. He urged, "Please focus all your efforts on creating a safe beach where vacationers can enjoy themselves with peace of mind."
Since July 11 and until August 24, the North Gyeongsang Provincial Police Agency has been operating summer police stations for 45 days at nine major beaches in the province, including Yeongdeok and Pohang.
In particular, the agency is making every effort to prevent crimes during the vacation season by operating dedicated teams to prevent sex crimes such as illegal filming, and by strengthening patrols in areas vulnerable to crime.
Commissioner Oh stated, "This year, as the vacation crowds are especially concentrated, we will do our utmost to ensure a swift response based on close cooperation with related agencies such as local governments and fire departments." He added, "We will strengthen preventive activities so that both residents and tourists can enjoy a safe summer holiday free from crime and accidents."
This inspection was carried out to proactively prevent crimes such as sex offenses, theft, and violence that may occur at vacation spots, and to prepare for possible safety accidents.
